week 6

not much to report so far. Little pal (or gal) is about 1/8 of an inch long and weighs about a gram. He or she should have a heart with a steady beat by the end of the weekend.

Provided the pregnancy goes well, we're aiming for a homebirth assisted by CHOICE midwives. The only complication is that the insurance may or may not cover it. It is quite a bit cheaper than a hospital birth though, so we can pay out of pocket if it comes to that. Apparently, the midwives are willing to arrange payment plans, and are even willing to barter! I'm not sure what I could offer them, but its an interesting thought...

We're sort of hoping for a boy, if only because we already have a boy's name picked out that we really love: Isaac Henning. Isaac was my grandfather's name (my mom's dad) and Henning was Tim's great-grandfather's name (his mom's grandpa). Girls names seem to be a lot harder to come up with, so we'll table that discussion until we find out what we're having.

Other than that, pregnancy has been pretty uneventful. No nausea, just really tired. Hopefully things stay that way.

  2. Mandy, how time has flown....only yesterday you were a little girl and now you're going to have a little one of your own. You've turned out to be everything I could have ever hoped for in a daughter, my hopes and dreams have all been fulfilled and I know without a doubt you will be a fantastic Mommy. As i have learned time goes by quickly so enjoy each day, every little kick that makes you say ouch, every tiny little fist punch, and everything else that goes along with being pregnant for it soon, believe it or not, will be over and your little bundle of joy will be here and then...it's a whole new world!! My hope is that you will do great during your pregnancy, and delivery when that time arrives, and most of all both of you will be healthy.

I love the garage sale comment! Thats exactly where I would be. And dont forget the "Once upon a Child" store. If Lynn and Tim need some help I will come over and we can build multiple cribbing beds to allow for all the new grandkids the Grandparants will be tending to. Good luck with the 9 month stint we are all very happy for you and Timmy!

  6. Mandy,
I think its wonderful that you have chosen to do a homebirth! My friend Liesel did a home birth through Choice and did very well. Let me know if you would like her number for any advice on who to contact or how to get started.
